Despite all the scolding she was throwing at herself within her, Eva remained outwardly calm. She could not do anything about it anymore no matter how she berated herself for actually forgetting that one important clause that was stated in their contract. So all she could do now was to only sigh and accept the consequences as stated too.

Besides, there was nothing for her to worry about as it was just a kiss. It was not that big of a deal. Julian had kissed her many times before when she was still with him.

“Alright,” Eva cleared her throat and pulled away from him, straightening her stance. Then she lifted her chin in her usual strict manner. “I really need to go to bed and rest soon… so please proceed and get over with it.”

She shut her eyes closed as she stood there, causing Gage to bite on his lower lip in an attempt to stop himself from chuckling out loud. Amusement was beaming in dark eyes as he stared at her incredibly stiff stance.

Her eyes opened when she felt that he had not done anything yet. Cracking one eye open, she saw that he had not even bothered to get up from the bed. She sat up straight and threw him a questioning look. “What’s the matter Mr. Acheron? Don’t tell me you’re nerv –”

He was right before her in a couple of movements.

“Were you just about to say that I am nervous?” he lifted a brow as he bent over her, his overwhelming seductive aura bearing down on her fully. The corner of his lips was lifted up in a small smile.

And Eva suddenly felt her heartbeat accelerating as she looked up into his face. He was just… he was too large and too close!

The slight lift of his lips widened even more as he took in her deer in the headlights look. “Relax, Eva. Just breathe.” He said in a smooth voice and Eva reddened, knowing that he must have heard the loud and fast thumps of her heartbeat right now. “I’m just going to kiss you, not eat you up, pet.”
She forced out a smile. “Right,” she gave him a quick nod and then echoed the words “It’s just a kiss.”

A deep breath then escaped her lips and just in a few moments, she had managed to set the frame of her mind and was holding his gaze with that business-mode look of hers again. Gage saw that and he thought that this little lady was truly impressive. He truly had to hand it to her.

“Alright, I’m ready. Let’s just get over with it now, Mr. Acheron.” She said in an almost commanding tone, causing Gage’s eyes to be lit up with a glint of something playful. And yet, Eva would not dare compare this playfulness in his eyes to the mischief of an innocent boy, because that playful glint that she had caught sent a strange shiver down her spine. And to think that she could not quite tell if the shiver was something bad or good. Whatever it was, she still needed to get this kiss over and done with. Thus, she closed her eyes again and waited for him to make the move.

“First things first, Eva.” His voice echoed in her ears and her thoughts were quick to be scattered like spilled popcorn the moment she felt his hot and moist breath brushed past her cheek.

Still, she managed to marshal against herself and kept her composure.

“I think I need to teach you how to kiss first. No?” he teased her.

“W-what?!” she was frowning hard at him before her eyes even opened. “You don’t need to do that. I am not new to this, Mr. Acheron.” Her tone had a tiny hint of ridicule, as though she was scoffing at him at looking down on her kissing experience. Sure, she would not consider herself as a seductress, but neither was she a first timer at kissing.

“Just because you’ve been kissed before doesn’t mean you’d instantly know how it’s done properly, pet.” He shot a smouldering gaze at her.

Eva was about to retort when his graceful fingers suddenly cupped around her neck and jaw. That one move made her forget all that she was about to say. The feel of his fingertips behind her ears surprised her and had sent her mind into a momentarily blanked out state.

Before she knew it, her gaze was locked onto that dark pools of his seemingly deep and devouring eyes.

“Pay close attention to what I am about to teach you, Eva,” he whispered as his hand slid slowly and sensuously to the back of her neck, lightly grasping to support the weight of her head. Every inch of skin he touched seemed to prickle with goosebumps. “I’ll show you what a real kiss is really like.”

And his mouth came down on hers.

His lips were like a warm delight that she had not expected. And he was unexpectedly gentle.
He explored her lips with tender pressure, exploring repeatedly like he was trying to coax her. She had thought… he was going to roughly kiss her or give her a punishing kiss as this was supposed to be a punishment. She had never been kissed roughly but she was not ignorant about the many kinds of kisses that existed in this world.

She however, did not expect how Gage’s kiss right now felt so sweet and warm that she could not help but want to… respond. Every brush of his lips against hers kept melting something cold and frozen within her. Her resistance. And she did not even seem to be able to resist his gentle persuasion.

This was… she had totally not expected this! Oh no Eva, this was… bad.
