TOKU FRIDAY 001 (Patreon)

Here's something that's been on my mind a lot lately, and what I really needed to get out of my system, so...  I begin this Patreon-exclusive weekly series of tokusatsu character sketches, designs, and then (inevitably) commissions or simply personal drawings - all specifically dedicated to Kamen Rider.

Sometime later down the road, the Toku Friday designs could become a series of prints, cards, or maybe a less formalized zine. There's no concrete aim for now, just my passion for Kamen Rider's gift of escapism and love for designing little weird guys.

For now, the preliminary designs will be falling into one of the three generalized categories:

1) Classic Kamen Rider (Hongo/Ichimonji/SHOCKER riders etc.)

2) Kamen Rider Black (Kotaro and other "organic" Kaijin-type Riders)

3)  "Offshoot" Riders (Keita Amemiya J&ZO types, something that works as a one-off character)

I'm also looking forward to designing a bunch of villain characters for the roaster - both "kaijins" and "augs", covering at least the most basic archetypes like Bat-Man and Spider-Man, but also going into few other directions.

The sketches that you see here today are not characters, per se, at least not yet; for now, it's just costume ideas and quick thoughts:

I hope you'll enjoy the ride, and if you're keen of tokusatsu genre - I hope that I won't let you down with these! This little project really helps me flex some half-forgotten muscles and get my mind of some things that I'd rather not focus on right now, so consider this series to be a bit therapeutic, too.
