Today my asinine country started a war, so I went to the post office and finally shipped kilograms of my original art - almost a year worth of different works, meant for different people - in hopes that the packages can make it out of Russia before we close our border, before the conflict escalates to the point where Russia goes into complete isolationist mode and puts up the Great Firewall of Russia, or some shit like that, yada-yada-yada.
It's all so silly, and barely helps me to cope with the awful reality of today.
This week I've been working days and nights, rarely lifting my face from the tablet, because it helped me to get my mind off the looming danger of war. Of course, now the war is actually happening, anyway. And between the complete meltdown of twitter, my scared family, and my friends getting detained at protests in both Petersburg and Moscow, all I can do is send grim messages to my work collaborators, instructing them on how they can access my work files and giving them a blessing to complete it with any other artist willing to salvage my unfinished artwork in case it Russia goes completely dark for too long.
Anyway, I think I'm gonna play the Elden Ring tonight. Was planning to do a whole zine dedicated to it. Probably gonna proceed with the plan, as long as I have a few minutes a day and a pen.
Death to the tyrant, freedom to Ukraine.
