See the usual screentone here? What's kinda funny is that for this piece (on a pretty rare occasion!) I had a very strict plan for how the future picture should look, down to the big-dotted screentone areas - so much so that I even included it in the "pencils" (the printout of which I then used with my lightbox):

In physical media, I stopped using actual screentones a while ago - I ship my big commissions in tubes, so the shit would just crumble and fall off the sheet of paper. Instead, when I want to see a screentone, at least in digital form, I just convert grey tones into one. Come to think of it - the nice, soft grey markers are just... a way for me to get to the images from my head? Thus, even the original itself is a sort of byproduct of the process. And so, clients get the original markers, a physical object to keep; I get to keep my realized vision as a nice screentony jpeg.
