Back in 2017, I started doing my "big" comic pages on smaller sheets of paper (A4 size instead of my usual A3). I've experimented with going "smol" before in my left field works like Slavic Nihilism (mostly for the sake of mobility when working on facultative projects), but here my examination was mostly motivated by a huge package of screentones I've just bough from Japan that were simply too small for bigger paper.  I was also hoping to save me some time by slacking off (JUST A WEE BIT! :D) with less labour-intensive paper format, but  this little trickery got rendered completely futile very quickly.

But most importantly, it gradually helped me to clean out some of my excessive inking techniques - you can still see me often wandering off into Too Many Hatches territory in bigger pages of the book, but I manage to keep it clean and crisp here.

Nowadays, I do a lot of smaller stuff. You can  see full stories of Slavic Nihilism done in sketchbooks. But it all goes back to that one huge and lush Western book I was hired to do back in 2016.

Anyway, here is my personal stash of favorite small pages from the book - the ones I wasn't ready to part with and sell through my art rep. I should probably also mention that since then, I've had a very few emotional attachment to my A3 pages, but get weirdly kingly with so many pages done on A4.

It is nice to see pages kept together like that. That's a great little folio!
