A small post to praise my new friend - a block of small paper squares usually used for notes and memos (I’m sure you are familiar with the concept). Recently I’ve been using them to sketch - sometimes even during Zoom calls - and very often it ends in some very interesting results. If you pay close attention to the photo, you’ll notice that both versions of my recent Sandworms and the Guild Navigator’s face were reproduced 1:1 in finished drawings; my Reverend Mother drawing was born from a very mindless doodle, and as for the lil’ sketch of First Knife - I still think that it’s a better version of his figure, and something got lost on the process of repeating it on a bigger paper format.

There’s something nice and comforting about these tiny squares of paper. I’ve never been a sketchbook doodling guy, but I might as well soon become a Memo Block Guy instead.

Where was a time when I was sketching out Slavic Nihilism panels on little pieces of paper like this! Should get back to the method.
