So here's a good splash panel to end on! (and I am terribly sorry for this week-long delay -__-)

CHERNOBYL will return in a couple of months - both as webcomic here on Patreon and for free here (with some delays, as you could see) and as print continuation of the story in Slavic Nihilism issue 3.

BUT NOW - let's get on some process!

As you may remember, I'm drawing most of the book in small Moleskine notebooks - for many reasons, one being the fact that I can draw it literally anywhere. Some panels were sketched and/or inked in trains, parks, cafes, and even on beaches of Spain (fancyyyy!). So this is what my pencils for this book looked like:

(The story was so loose in the beginning that I actually had a couple dozens of sketches for the very first page. Sadly,  for the life of me I can't find the old photos of my attempts to arrange these panels in different page formations :( But you'll see some of the extra sketches below!)

(Remember this process video?)

Later, when I started breaking the grid more and more, pages became more "complex", and I started drawing pencils either on bigger pieces of paper - although I avoid traditional penciling for bigger formats - or digitally (and then printing them, as I do in my usual process for "serious" comics):

And now to my favorite sequence <3!

(these pages were inked on pink digital printouts)

I've already bragged about this sabre dance in earlier posts, but here are the pencils! ;)

(BTW - anyone interested in buying these pages? The first piece with THE MEED is not for sale, but the rest could be yours!)

As for now - before drawing a single panel of Chapter Two, I want to write the complete proper script for it (FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE). It means no more writing dialogues on the go, solid page count, less editing in the end, but MORE WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE before drawing - and of course before showing - anything.

And GODDAMN I'M ALREADY SWEATING BULLETS aaaaaagghhhhhh

P.S. MORE PANELS

+ some tiny layouts!

That's it, folks! Se ya soon!
