Change in Patreon rewards ? (Patreon)

Out of curiosity, if I were to replace the random raffle with something else (that still gives every donor the exact same power/chances, no matter the amount pledged), what would like it to be ? Do you have any ideas ?


It's not that I mind the way things are right now, but the randomness is an uncomfortable factor still, which is why I wonder if there are better ways.

I've occasionally seen artists raffle off background characters to their patrons - but honestly, if your committed to not making it into the whole "multiple tiers: tip, low res, high res, raffle, commission, 1 on 1" --- then what you are doing is probably the best path. I'm not 100% sure it would do you any better, and the raffle makes people feel more included I think. But ultimately, it's your project. I could see you maybe selling comics in high-res packs or the like, but since you don't restrict new-patrons access to old content it's also not the easiest route (though it could get you some income from the people that hate patreon for whatever reason) Ultimately, you aren’t the sort to prevent new fans from viewing your old content, so I think the raffle might be the best way to keep people actively subscribed to your patreon (not that you seem to collect to many of the cut-and-run assholes anyway)

That said - something you might do if you were looking to change/update your reward tiers - creating a different higher tier to be eligible for the second raffle slot might be something ... but that's kinda against your original premise of the raffle. Which is why I didn't mention it in the first comment.

Could go by a list system so that everyone eventually would get a turn. Just like a rule of must have been following for X amount of months and shit.

In the case that you must keep the random system, I suggest rolling from 1-26 in order to pick a letter from A-Z in the English alphabet; rolling the die until the first three letter of a person's name shows up, rolling additional times for anyone with similar names, and flipping a coin for those who tie. Example: A roll of 123 = ABC. If nobody has A you just roll again. If they don't have B after a, roll again. If they get ABC and their name is, “ABCDE" then they win. (The letters are just an example to help explain the method)

Draw a personalized bagget for anyone who donates above $10. Draw a bagget with a formage on top of it for anyone who donates above $20.

Well, that's not exactly what I meant, I think the way I select the winners for these raffles is fine (it's already random), what I'm asking is if I were to change the raffle into something else, what would you like to see replacing it ?

I guess that's fairer somewhat but it also requires a lot of keeping up on my part to do which I'm not willing to dooooooooo coos I'm laaaazy and I don't want to guarantee anyone anything on patreon.

if you want to mix it up a little? keep doing one random winner who gets whatever they want drawn, but change how you approach the second commission: collect concepts (via comments) from all patrons, create a poll and allow each patron to vote on one concept (comment with the concept you want to see drawn), then you draw the winner of the popular vote. You'll still end up drawing two commissions per month, and it could be kind of a fun way for patrons to see what filth their fellows are into. I mean I might *think* that I want to see a bat jerking off while spying on a hellhound voring down some mole rats, but change my mind after seeing someone else suggest a heavily tattooed minotaur carefully crafting a clay phallus for a soon-to-be-animated full-service golem. ya know?

I like the vote idea, it's something i've been wondering how to implement, or rather what to implement it with. You say everyone makes a request of their own then people vote on which request they find more interesting, I had wondered about making a small comic reward with multiple choice as to what/who it would depict.
