It's basically the very last page of the comic beside that ugly, ugly 127 final. I rather liked the old page, there was nothing soo overtly ugly about it. That's not to say it was perfect, in fact only the pants at the bottom remain unchanged in terms of line and colors, everything above was completely redone.


The first panel had Zee's massive eyes which made himm look like an alien. Something which used to crop up a lot in my art and I tried to tone it down significantly since then. Still, it did give the impression of confused euphoric impatience well enough, along with the pouty mouth. I suppose the new page is a little more "normal" in that regard.


This panel and the one below also show how much thicker my linework used to be. That's also something I had to tone down a bit because it just got in the way of details, which is what you need to make a scene sexy sometimes. Otherwise Larsen is basically the same, minus the tears. Also something I toned down a bit. Even tho they were cute.


Finally the legs... I feel like Larsen's legs are too spread apart in the NEW version, but whatever. It's not obvious enough for me to care. Also their tails made a subtle heart shape in the old page but do not in the new ones. I don't think it was too important, not even sure if it was intended or just a happy accident.

Thanks for the rework! I like the facial expressions in the new version, especially Larsen's. And I'm glad you lost the tears, I didn't like them ;-) With the tears and the old facial expression Larsen looked rather frightened, while in the new version he seems just like starting to be determined to go for it. Concerning the legs I beg to differ, because I think the posture looks more natural in the new version.

I just noticed, haven't seen that before: they both have five fingers, but four toes. Knowing from the answer to an earlier question of mine that Larsen is a mouse, I checked, and now I found that Zee probably is a long-tailed weasel, which fits well both with his colors and the sharp canines sometimes protuding as needles between his closed lips. I wondered about those, too. Nice to know :-) Whether four toes are "anatomically correct" for mice and weasels... you're welcome to find that out on your own (if that's the kind of thing you like to know) ;-) Oh, and weasels use to hunt mice, by the way.

Not to depreciate an artist's work, but honestly, I like your version a zillion times better than the original. And thanks a lot for settling on "Zee" rather than "Bendy" or the like :-)

He was named Zee because the second drawing of him I made was a pic of him sleeping with a big "Z" to symbolize it. I had no name at the time but someone suggested "Zee" thanks to the pic and I thought "it fits !"
