That said, I still have a soft spot for some of the character designs, and whether consciously or not, they likely inspired many of mine.

Actually a lot of shows are like that (mostly because your tastes change and the bar of excellence does too). I went back and thought Samurai Jack was alright and I don’t really care for Powerpuff Girls. However!!! The animation in Tiny Toons became the basis of my study on the 80s and 90s cartoon boom that folks think we don’t have anymore. Much like the Hanna Barbara age, it has its place but if we don’t move forward we can’t improve as a medium

Too much filler, too many songs. I understand that was part of the demands of creating an entirely new cast of characters for a show that was one five days a week, but come on. Nobody perked up when the Rita and Runt theme song started.

I never got into Samurai Jack, but I still stand by the first two, maybe three seasons of PPG. My nieces are getting into PPG now, and I'm proud of the fact that they prefer the original to the reboot. I mean, sure, they'll still watch both. Why shouldn't they? They are literal children. They've got decades to become snobs over trivial things like their uncle.

I got an Animaniacs DVD set at a thrift store a while back I was thinking to my self sweet nostalgia......then I realized "wow...this is not as good as it was when I was in my 20's watching the reruns on the hub while drinking coconut rum"
