Other than the grey backdrop, this is how the original hand-drawn sequence looks. It was done on three separate pieces of 8.5x11 paper. At this point, I kept Winifred silent during the transformation, as I don't always like those to be too chatty. I think in an isolated TF sequence, I wouldn't have added words, but it works here because the sequence is bookended by panels with more dialogue. Winifred's extra lines also let the reader follow her mental state a little better than with her facial expressions alone. I know the expression is "show, don't tell," but surely there's nothing wrong with doing both when properly balanced.
