A quick and rare celebratory art trade. What's the occasion, you ask? I just finished inking Underburbs #18 last night!

Honestly, I enjoy the inking the most. I do the pages in basically three stages. First, I do very rough pencils. Because I'm too impatient to regularly do thumbnails, I'm also working out the panel layouts at the same time. Second, I do the basic inks. I use a 03 micron for characters, 01 for backgrounds, and 05 for lettering. I spend a lot of time on this stage fixing stuff I put down too quickly during the pencil phase. Once that's done, I erase the pencil lines. For the final phase, I do varying line weight with the 05 and 08 microns. This is when I'm in the zone, because this part requires the least thought. I can just concentrate on bold lines and making everything look nice. I don't like to color as much because there are a lot more decisions. I enjoy it once I'm into it, of course, but the first hump of choosing a palette is a tough one.

Thanks! I owed it to myself after a rough day at work. I just pushed through it!

Thanks! I still have a cover to do, but I think I can get through it fairly quickly.
