Today was a rough morning all around. My co-worker couldn't open the store because her boyfriend's car was impounded over state lines. So I had to come in on what was once my day off. I also needed to drive my girlfriend to her train, which we of course missed. My dreams of catching the matinee of Guardians 2 were dashed. But amidst all my fury, a hero emerged. A lone man staging the mildest protest I have ever seen. His sandwich board read, "I am not happy with Sears." I don't know if he lost his job, or got bad car service, or they wouldn't give him a refund on a Craftsman ratchet set. The sign just said he was not happy.

It did, however, make me very happy. If you heard the hysterical laughter, you would understandably think that I finally lost my mind. I swear I'm not taking pleasure in his misfortune, but the absurdity of the scene. It was 9:30am. The dude was alone. HE TOOK THE TIME TO MAKE A SANDWICH BOARD.

I hope he gets whatever he wants from his holy quest, but he will never --and probably should never-- know of the joy he brought me.
