How important do you think is the environment of animations?

I think I could get more done a lot faster if I don't get fixated on the surroundings and props.

Having interesting backgrounds is more of an extra treat for the main attraction. Primary concern for everyone is that the animation's clean and hot to look at.

I can manage it interesting regardless.. Thing is, I made a poll forever ago about how much of the character should be in the frame and, iirc, most wanted full body in frame and less zoom-ins. Thus I'm kinda pressured to spend enormous amounts of time on the background, logic being that if the camera is zoomed in on the action, less work is required on the background because there's just less of it in the frame.

That's fair. I can only speak on my preference, which is I'd like to see the main focus of the animation. Full-body shots are great, but like I said I see it more as an extra bit of flair versus a necessity.

I’m in it for the animations I don’t pay attention to the props and background but it’s still appreciated

I think the background is at least somewhat important to the overall quality of the animation. Even though it's not something many people may actively pay attention to, a boring background can make the action taking place in the foreground less interesting. That said, I'm not sure what your idea of a less detailed background entails. Since it seems like something you're leaning towards, I suggest you try an animation with a less detailed environment and see how it turns out. Maybe do a poll afterwards to see what people think.

I'll clarify for contrast. Low detail: The sfm animation with tracer and sombra in front of a red space background was quick to make, just a few recolored spheres and volumetrics, literally just 20 min of work. Heavy detail: take for example AEON - modeling the entire scene from scratch. Or the PharaMercy anim where I was anal about fixing every single texture of the map. Etc..

The detail heavy helps set a story and mood. Two people fucking in an abstract void is... a little odd in a distracting way. The high detail approach is great if you are wanting to make better art, low the detail is absolutely fine if you want to make things faster. I guess low detail = decent to great porn, high detail= better art. The details you put into the characters and the motion make it hotter, the backgrounds make it more beautiful but not really hotter.

To elaborate further from the Poll, I don't watch your videos for the surroundings and props, I watch it for the actions. An example selective attention: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJG698U2Mvo My attention goes to your dickgirls and whatever they are doing. what you create for background will probably will get lost, because i am not putting my attention there. the work is wasted. think of it as a pareto principle, 80/20: 80% of my attention would go to roughly 20% of the screen, in this case the actresses and their actions. I am not intentionally looking at the props and background unless the video purposefully focuses there (a zoom in/screen focus). For example, Alison taking out her knife to sharpen the iron Rod, my attention would go to the knife and admire the attention to detail, but my main focus is still Alison and her actions, but mainly her dick.
