Dude, you don’t know what you bargained for. As good as Daredevil is, the Marvel Netflix shows are all interweaved. You don’t have to watch them all, but at least someone you know who has seen them all should provide you with a “cheat sheet” so you can bypass the shows that don’t interest you. Here’s the watch order of the Marvel Netflix shows: Jessica Jones Season 1 Daredevil Season 2 Luke Cage Season 1 Iron Fist Season 1 (you can definitely skip this one) Defenders (limited series; not mandatory) The Punisher Season 1 (you might like this one) Jessica Jones Season 2 (not bad but not as good as season 1) Luke Cage Season 2 Iron Fist Season 2 (significantly better than season 1) Daredevil Season 3 The Punisher Season 2 And finally Jessica Jones Season 3.

When they refer to half of New York getting destroyed, they are referring to the Avengers battle with all those aliens Loki set loose. Daredevil takes place a few years after that first Avengers movie.
