Ill help with a couple points Don. Lelouch and his sister Nunnally are former Britannia royalty. But at some time in the past when they were kids, they were sent to Japan. Then The Emperor, they’re father, attacked and declared war on Japan. Both Lelouch and Nunnally were assumed dead but actually were taking in by the Ashford family, a Britannian family that supported their late mother. The Ashford family currently runs the school they are at and thus are allowing them to go and stay there under a false last name because they believe if found out, the Emperor will capture them and use them as pawns again. Lelouch currently believes there was a conspiracy of the other royal family members (his father) to kill his mother and get rid of him and his sister. Everyone at the school is Britannian except Kallen who is half, but she hides her Japanese part from others so she isn’t subjected to racism etc. Purebloods faction are basically just the right wing version of Brittannia that doesnt want to include any “Honarary Britannians” aka former Japanese who willingly serves the Empire into their military. They wants only the “true” Brittanians to have power and want to keep all Elevens/Japanese people suffering
