This is the first time meliodas has died because his curse makes it to we're he doesn't age so he wouldn't have any reason to die during 3000 years since everyone else besides humans, fairies, and giants had been basically sealed so there wasn't a threat to a upper demon like meliodas.

That is absolutely NOT the case. Nevermind that when he died and talked to his dad that he described his situation in such a way that he was clearlyy familiar with it, but he also drunkenly babbled to Zaratras (that we saw when the latter used his druid powers to conjure one of his memories for Elizabeth to see) that he's tried everything he could think of but the curse won't let him, which was in response to Zaratras saying that he would die if he was under the same curse. A very unsubtle implication that he has tried to take his own life in the past.
