Okay so to clarify nobody had bending everyone was just regular humans but when they need food they have to go to the wilds and they need to protect themselves so they would ask the lion turtles for an element depending on where they live and which lion turtle that would be your element and they would take it back when you return. And anyone else notice like the one black guy in the group is wearing a monkey mask lol
