I believe there is a limit to subs but im not entirely sure, the only rule I know for certain is that you can't sub when your team is at match/set point. Idk if it also applies if your opponent is also at match/set point

You can't sub in the same player more than once in the same set. For example, Yamaguchi and Sugawara can only be subbed in once every set. It doesn't apply to the libero. Once a libero is subbed in, he can stay until the player he subbed in for gets rotated to the front line. So basically, when Hinata and Tsukki move to the back line, they serve and then get switched out for Nishinoya until it's their turn to be on the front line again. The libero can go in for any player but on Karasuno, Hinata and Tsukki are the weakest receivers so Nishinoya goes in for them. This is true for all teams in Haikyuu I think, because middle blockers are generally not good receivers. Sugawara and Yamaguchi come in as pinch servers for Hinata and Tsukki once every set because they are also the weakest servers for Karauno currently. That makes sense because it gives Karasuno a good chance to score even when their serve should be the weakest.
