I'll keep saying it because the show gets better and better, and these translations just get worse and worse. These translations seem to be the literal 1-1 Japanese version brought over to English, but you can't do it like that because Japanese people don't talk the way one would in English. You have to translate the meaning of what's being said, not the words only. When you get a character repeating something they just said, when thoughts seem to feel blunt, when subtitles feel strange if you were to read it out loud, it's because they translated the Japanese words as best they could, forcing it into English grammar without attempting to focus on the intentions of a character or the meaning behind what they're saying. That's actually the reason most anime have similar sounding characters; it's because they use sayings or expressions the Japanese use but feel foreign to an English speaker. The official version is so much better because it actually reads like a real person would talk.
