I always get confused in comment sections where people ask if its a musical, and someone says "no, its a film with musical elements" and like, WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN? a film with musical elements IS, a musical, no? someone needs to explain this to me lol

music in a musical serves to progress the plot, music in a movie with musical elements doesnt. Musical: Les Mis, do you hear the people sing, the characters rebel against the french monarchy. Movie with musical elements: Birds of Prey, harley imagines shes marlyin monroe and has a little musical dream sequence but it doesnt move the plot.
