Japanese Godzilla (Gojira) movies are leaps and bounds above their American counterparts. Minus One is better than this one even, in my opinion. The universe from the movies you've watched is actually the "parallel" one, and this movie is kinda like a soft reboot for the franchise in Japan, although there's multiple Japanese movies that don't connect with each other in a universe like the American ones. You HAVE to watch Minus One, you'll really like it!
