I find the topic of criticizing a creator's work that Dee raised interesting because there’s some nuance to it. I think that, as with everything else, it comes down to context. Constructive criticism or suggestions is something that every reasonable creator welcomes. Sharing subjective opinions is different, but also dependent on the context of the art and the artist. In the specific type of content that Matthew creates, a personal dislike of an audio has no constructive value, since he said he’s only making what turns him specifically on. However, there can be another type of value in sharing it if it’s not formulated as a critique but as an explanation of why the theme itself doesn’t work for them. It can be, and has been over the years, an interesting insight into different experiences and perspectives people have. Then there’s the type of subjective criticism that is nothing but going out of your way to say you didn’t like someone’s work. By the way Dee, it was perfectly clear to me that this last case is what you were referring to. Even that though, at least when it happens here, I think is not rooted in malice but rather it’s a form of, sometimes amusing, sometimes annoying, narcissism. 😄
