Factbook Footnotes 2 - Human (Patreon)

Here's the latter half of my notes and explanations for concepts and terms I used in the Factbook. As this covers the human-related sheets on the Factbook, I expect this one might generate a stir and may lead to more discussions in the future as the project really starts to get rolling. Just remember, there is usually a good reason and creative purpose for my language choice. Knowledge creation in our own world is incremental, piecemeal, and responsive to social and political contexts. In Altera, I control the language to allow us to see some of the poetry woven into the story of humankind as we look back through the looking glass.

A special note. People seem to always get stuck on the pseudo-race component in the Factbook. I have devoted some considerable effort in clarifying and also explaining why, in the grand scheme of things, a story of humankind ought to celebrate not just normative, cultural, and linguistic diversity, but also to map those diversities onto both real and perceived human population groups, especially if it can lead to such rich and engrossing ironies as the chorographies that come out of Hungary or India or the Americas, for example, which see national or ethnic myths in stark contrast with what the science is showing in terms of population genetic clusters.  Read more in the footnotes.
