Factbook Footnotes 1 - Physical (Patreon)

The Factbook database for Altera is now live on the website. Here's the first set of explanations on the categories and classifications used, which cover the first half of sheets on physical geography, from setting to flora and fauna.

Special attention is put on terms and concepts that I have either repurposed, coined, or use despite them having become obscure in recent times. As Altera is ultimately a creative project, I have taken liberties in not following standard conventions found in corresponding academic literature. There is usually a good reason and creative purpose for this. Knowledge creation in our world is incremental, piecemeal, and responsive to social and political contexts. In Altera, I have total control in language. Call it alternate academia. 

This will be one of those few footnotes posts that will be available for the general public.
