A couple weeks ago, we launched a community survey to get a better know who was engaging with our maps, as well as how we might be able to improve. This is a quick, initial update on who we've heard from so far.

First, thank you for all those who already did complete the survey. We've received nearly 90 responses so far. The two winners of the prize draw are from Sinaloa, Mexico and Nailsea, England! They'll be receiving some nice looking Atlas Altera t-shirts in the mail soon.

There's still a chance to take the survey here. I'll be doing another prize draw with just the next set of respondents...

Now, with regards to the people we've heard from so far, let's celebrate the diverse geographies they represent. Here's a map of regional affiliations—regions to where people have ties.

In terms of regional representation,  connection to Europe/western Europe comes ahead. There's also significant representation from Latin America and the Caribbean, with a good range too—Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico. People with connections to East Asia and Southeast Asia were more likely to indicate they are based in or have ties with additional regions. It's not too surprising to see the lack of ties to sub-Saharan Africa, but I'm curious to understand why there's not as much engagement with people with ties to South Asia, considering that they have less of a language barrier and that they also have large diasporas.

Country-wise, to no one's surprise, a lot of respondents have ties to the US.  But I'm also pleasantly surprised to see so much love coming from Poland. It also always makes me smile to think that I'm finding engaging with people with cultural ties to places that seem far to me—Mali, Kazakhstan, Palestine, Georgia, Vietnam, Qatar, Argentina etc.

There's still another chance to win a couple more shirts, so if you haven't done the survey yet, what are you waiting for? Take the survey here.
