I'd like to gather some feedback on atrophy.  Is it something you guys enjoy having in the game?

I know some players intentionally let their character atrophy - as depicted here: http://fav.me/d8hlmuf

But on the flip side, I can see it being unfun for others, and it adds micromanagement to the game.

Currently, you can disable atrophy in the options, but as the game evolves, it could be something that's expanded upon with perks and traits.

For example, there could be 'slow atrophy' and 'no atrophy' perks.  Conversely, 'fast' and 'constant' atrophy curses could be expedite the rate. (One of the upcoming transfer mechanics I have in mind is a process that gives one character a perk and the other a corresponding curse).

I've considered slowing the rate considerably to make the mechanic more realistic.  It takes healthy adults weeks if not months to actually lose muscle like that.  The problem is if I set the atrophy counter to something realistic like, 20+ days, it would end up being trivial and difficult to trigger at all.

On the other hand, if the default was something high, then those curses could end up making atrophy relevant.  (Building on the transfer thought, the girlfriend could gain a muscle building perk in exchange for your atrophy being cursed.)

Is this something you'd enjoy having in Life Sim?  Or would you prefer that time was spent on other aspects of the game?

On that note - do you even want atrophy in the game in the first place?  If the majority of players would rather not bother, it'd be easiest to scrap it sooner than later.

Let me know your opinions in the poll and the comments.

I like atrophy and ideally would like it expanded, but have voted to scrap it as it is so far down my preference list for development that if removing it would speed up other work, well that's a price worth paying. There's still transfer potions, the Devil's Machine, the transfer necklace as ways to weaken the player.

Agreed ^ It's nice, but it's really, really far down my development priority.

I voted "I enjoy atrophy as it is, but don't want to see it expanded.". I want to clarify that, I don't mind seeing atrophy expanded. I think there are more important or interesting aspects to focus on right now.
