i also love how all the actors who play lgbtq+ on the show is queer irl ashlyn,seb,carlos,maddox, ... minus ricky tho he not queer on the show (for now :P)

rina has hugged during every ep 6 of each season so far. this one’s probably my favorite even though everyone always talk about the s1 spin hug. yeah, I’ve always viewed ash’s crush on val as just the crushes you get on people that just are really supportive of you and really nice and make you realize that you’re queer a lot of the time. that’s happened to me before where i’ve gotten a crush on some girl that was really nice to me and i didn’t understand it until later that i had a crush on her. but ashlyn’s “oh” moment was probably one of the best queer realization moments i’ve seen in a long time. it was just so sweet and just the fireworks going off and her being so happy about it was just so beautiful and nice especially for a kid show (which it technically is). i totally agree with you about how this is the shortest season yet it’s had the most character development and relationship and friendship progressions of the show so far and that’s so impressive. especially when you compare it to season two that felt like it was dragging on despite it being twelve episodes and the longest season. everyone is growing or going through storylines that are really unique to the show that they haven’t done yet. with kourt anxiety, ash realizing she’s queer, ej having a lot of responsibility placed on him, jet and maddox’s relationship, and ricky showing support for everyone and trying to help out and giving advice the most he can when he would not have been able to do that in season one and two. ricky was often very selfish in season one and season two even but he’s been so selfless this season and has not made anything about himself when it shouldn’t be. case in point? ricky doing what he’s done for gina even though he likes her has shown so much growth because he would have never done this for nini and he never did do this for her either and like i said in my comments from yesterday he’s not making the same mistakes in so many ways. including not trying to break up a relationship even if it’s hurting him to see and he wants gina back even if he never was in a relationship with her. which i also loved seeing ricky say that he regrets letting color war, aka. gina, slip through his fingers. him saying that basically means he regrets ever letting her go and that would mean he regrets ever getting back with nini. he thinks he’s lost his chance and to see him cry over that is so sad but also in a way satisfying because we had to watch gina pine so much in season two and cry over him and give him advice (not that he was trying to hurt her of course he had no idea) and now we get to see ricky go through the same thing. it was the one thing i wanted out of their relationship besides them actually happening and seeing them bond again; i wanted to see ricky pining like gina did in season two. also, there was a direct parallel from season 2 after ricky asked gina for advice he said “you’re the best” and gina said the same thing right when ticky was about to leave after helping her set up the promposal for ej. i feel like ej really screwed over his relationship this episode. gina was willing to move past him lying and everything and tell him what she wants; for him to show up and play the games with them today. but he doesn’t do that and obviously she’s going to be annoyed at that. but he still asks ricky (it’s hilarious that he goes to ricky every time there’s a problem with gina and thinks he’ll have the answer that says a lot to me) what’s going on with gina? like you know what’s going on with gina she wanted you to show up and you were still focusing on the musical instead and didn’t show up for the games. gina told ricky that she wants ej there and he actually remembers that because he told ej that’s why she’s upset 😭😭 yes he’s busy and i feel bad for him in that regard but he’s not doing much to do what gina asks of him. and the promoposal thing is self-explanatory why it was so stupid of him to react like that even if there are rules 😭😭 not only was there no fireworks between them but to take it a step further miss jenn said she saw fireworks when she kissed ricky’s dad after ash asked how she knew she wanted to go on a boat with him like you said, even though the season is short, it’s so packed yet the storylines are being done well like kourtney’s anxiety. it only started in season four yet we’re seeing short but impactful scenes like the one during the rock climbing. the corbin bleu and gina dance was especially so cute because sofia wylie who plays her loves him and the hsm movies and corbin asked for a duet with her. so sweet and YES she does steal the show.
