Toph, also, has never had any friends before. Her parents kept her sequestered and didn't even tell the rest of the town that they had a kid, 'cause they were so afraid for her. She IS very independent though. I don't think she's trying to prove that she is, she always has gone off and done things herself. Hell, she learned earthbending from the badger moles and then became a champion earthbending fighter. I'd say it's mostly that she's used to being by herself without anyone depending on her.

I didn't see it that way, but yeah you are right. She needs to get use to be part of a team and that there's nothing wrong with relaying on others.

Yeah, and I think that's largely what her talk with Iroh was trying to impart on her and her suggesting he tell Zuko how he feels is also coming from her perspective 'cause I think her parents keep her at arms length also and, obviously, don't really open up to her, since they don't know her at all. She's very closed off, as a result.

I love that episode so much. Not only is that fight scene incredible, but we get so much character development. Iroh is possibly my favorite fictional character of all time. Azula's team is so dangerous. And by herself, we get to see how much of a threat Azula is. She held her own against multiple people working together. She's truly an intimidating villain, which is hard to find sometimes.

The episodes in season 2 are so good! And there is so much character development which is fun to see. :) It's also interesting how this episode is called "The Chase" and you have Azula chasing Aang, Zuko chasing Azula, and Iroh chasing Zuko. I am loving your reactions to season 2 so far. Thanks, Juli! :)
