Yes. Coulson was the person in charge of the TAHITI project. He ran it for Fury off of SHIELD records. When he saw what happened to people he told Fury that the project has to be cancelled and shutdown. What a twist, the person that decided his memory needed to be wiped, that he should be mad at for making sure that the secret had to be kept, was him.

the only thing they did to coulsons brain was wipe his memory and do memory replacement, Skye never have her memory wiped so in theory the side effects should be worse for her... but she is a 0.8.4 so...???
