Great review Juli!!! Can't wait until you get to episode 15 now that is a BIG episode and amazing acting all around...Concerning Damon/Elena and the cure I think it’s notable that Elena was turned into a vampire at eighteen years old, the first year of adulthood Elena’s story arc has always been about her growing up and changing from the idealistic and wishful thinking of adolescence to the harsher, greyer and real world of adulthood. And season four thus far has been about her transition. From human to vampire, from Stefan to Damon, from adolescence to adulthood. And Damon, of course, was turned as a young adult (probably between 23-26). And he’s always represented truths, harsh realities and adulthood, especially with his interactions with Elena. Being with Damon is about her facing the darker parts of herself, going after what she wants and seeing the world as a scarier and greyer place then she thought. So, it makes sense that it took Elena to become a vampire (signifying adulthood) to begin to be ready to love Damon. It took her letting go of what she was holding onto (the human girl who died with her parents) to take a last, scary leap into adulthood. Elena is currently in transition. From vampire to human, from teenager to adult, from being with Stefan to being with Damon. Of course, there’s a few regressions and bumps along the way, because no transition is perfectly smooth. But this story is about Elena growing up, so it just makes sense that she’s growing into someone who is ready for an adult, messy, complicated and real love. You're absolutely right about Damon sabotaging things for himself as soon as he senses anyone getting close he pushes them away due to the hurt he experienced while being with Katherine and deemed a disappointment by his father....Damon uses his humor to cover his emotions he doesn't really expose his vulnerability to anyone but you can see the expression on his face when Elena asked him to take the cure with her...He definitely wants it but he's still not sure about the authenticity of her feelings...Elena and Damon have history and as human Elena did choose Stefan so of course it's going to play with his mind and the characters involved are making the situation even worse with all the "Elena will choose Stefan" or "Elena walking away from Damon once she's human" nonsense. Damon has to learn how to love himself in order to love someone in full capacity....He loves Elena and will do anything for Elena but right now Damon is trying to protect himself and to keep himself from being hurt after so much emotional damage it's only normal for him to react this way. And truthfully Elena as a human didn't see a future with Stefan if we go back to 2x20 Stefan and Elena discuss a human life and Elena mentions how she was supposed to grow up and decide if she wants to have kids and start a family all while Stefan would remain a vampire so obviously kids and a human family with Stefan was out of the picture. Or how in 3x22 she tells Damon over the phone that she couldn't think about "always" with Stefan only "right now" context is showing the differences for sure and Elena asking Damon to take the cure and be human with her is such a BIG step for her to take she basically proposed to him right there and that was the first time Elena was SURE about her future and who she wanted it with and that's with Damon but sadly with so much emotional trauma and insecurities Damon still has some growing to do to even get to that point. And Elena is growing with him...So in my opinion this is no longer a Delena vs Stelena thing....It's Delena vs whatever obstacle the writers are throwing at them....This is far from the end Juli we're just getting started lol

Hi Juli! Great reaction as always, however I was really sad to see you not enjoy the amazing Klaroline scenes we got in this episode. They are very crucial moving forward in the direction of how those two characters interact and I was bummed you were worried if the scenes were really happening or not or if Caroline was "playing" Klaus. Those scenes were real and she wasn't putting on an act for him. Caroline outright admitted she caught herself wishing she could forget all the horrible things Klaus had done and she knows Klaus loves her. Klaus becoming vulnerable by hearing those words come out of her mouth was very emotional for him. We all know he loves Caroline but to hear her actually say it out loud is a big deal for him. And to top it all off, those feelings were magnified the minute he almost lost her when he thought she was about to die. He couldn't let her die and so it was very touching to see Klaus get emotional and vulnerable and show compassion towards her. Even when Caroline's drinking his blood, he's very gentle with her and caresses her and if you notice when you rewatch the episode, Klaus moved Caroline onto the couch. (You don't actually see him do it, but Caroline's severely hurt and can't move that much so how else did she get on the couch? Tyler can't go into that section of the room because Klaus will kill him so Klaus had to have moved her onto the couch.) Just saying. Yes he was the reason she needed saving but it will all be addressed later as we continue this season. All I'm saying, is go back and rewatch the Klaroline scenes and enjoy them because they're worth enjoying. In regards to Delena this episode, "HazelAmarie" in the comment section wrote a lengthy analysis about them in this episode and throughout the show which is spot on. So I recommend you read that comment about them because I would say pretty much the same thing. Also, I HIGHLY recommend you watch 4x14 and 4x15 together (back to back) and then take a day or two break before watching 4x16 because you're gonna need it. Also, get the tissues ready for 4x15. It's one of my favorite of the season. One of the strongest acting performances from the cast in the whole show in my opinion. Anyways, looking forward to your next reaction!
