Don't worry girl! The sire-bond crap will be sorted out soon! My initial reaction to it was annoyance just like you, but the episodes ahead make it not so bad.

I look at it this way, Elena's feelings for Damon must have been pretty intense as a human. We all know how Damon loved Katherine, yet it wasn't enough to create a sire bond. This is why I suspect that although she chose Stefan and she loved Stefan, she wasn't in love with Stefan. At the end of season 2 she mentioned that she didn't know what love was although she knew she loved Stefan. Her conversations with Matt suggest that she felt an obligation to Stefan. I suspect that and peer pressure had a hand in her choice. Elena has a knack of going with the easy choice and Damon was not the easy choice, he's messy and complicated. Her and Stefan had been split up for 6 months and it would have been easy for her to think she was still in love with him. Elena also did mention that her choice was about who to say goodbye to, she couldn't think about always. The problem with the sire bond is Damon. When it comes to people loving him he's very insecure. I don't think many people like the sire bond story. I personally think it is one of the biggest mistakes the show ever made.

I've finally finished the video, great reaction. Caroline assumes that Damon is a man-slut, and since meeting Sage he has been. But up until that point he'd stayed faithful to Katherine, which was only for 48 years. One of the points that are made in this episode is that Stefan doesn't know Damon that well at all. He always assumes the worst in him. Stefan quite often only knows half the story, which is usually the outcome. He rarely knows Damon's motivations. As has been highlighted many times, Damon usually acts on good intentions but the end result is often littered with bodies. The next episode is named after a Christmas Carol of the same name.

You've said everything perfectly...Hopefully Juli reads these to get a better understanding on the sirebond, Elena's choices and the characters involved.

No need to worry Juli.....Things will get better but Delena it's complicated and it will stir your emotions but everything will look brighter sooner or later. But re watching this got me in all of my feels...Seeing Elena fight for him, Damon letting his vulnerability be exposed...That was such a beautiful moment and one of the things I've always loved about Delena...They are REAL....No relationship is perfect....You have to overcome the obstacle to come out stronger and that is the obstacle Delena is facing right now. Elena is so much happier and mature with Damon...I will never understand those who say after she turned she became "selfish" when that is so far from the truth and same with Damon he is deemed selfish yet he's the one who has to risk everything for the sake of his own happiness....After everything Damon has went through he finally found someone who truly loves and cares about him and to think it's all because of the sirebond is troublesome for him. Damon and Elena deserve to be happy. 😭

can't blame caroline, she's affected because she's team stelena. but all good they still stay friends.

what's interesting is that at the end of the episode damon was basically telling elena how they can't be together and elena was fighting him on it, she was disagreeing with him so obviously the sire bond doesn't effect her in the extreme way caroline and Stefan thinks it does otherwise she would have just agreed with him and allowed him to let her go.

how can Stefan say selflessness isn't one of damon's character traits when in season 3 damon selflessly turned bonnie's mum so Stefan didn't have to. That wasn't a secret, Stefan knew about it. I hate how he always belittles damon like that and always sees the worst in him. I mean at the end he believed damon would do the right thing by elena, but it was only after damon had to explain himself to him. Stefan should have faith in damon to begin with, that's what being a brother is.

That scene was immensely beautiful. I'm so happy about what they bring out in each other.

I love how this show turns a little love triangle into something so rich in storyline. Like I agree, the sirebond thing is so annoying but it shows how different love is in this show and how it compares to other tv shows

YAS! This. I've said this all along. There has been countless times throughout the entire series where Damon has proved selfless. For starters, in season two, after rescuing Caroline and Tyler from being sacrificed, Damon confronts Klaus to say he can't go through with the ritual. He then tells Klaus that he can kill him for doing it, but it was all him. In that scene, he was basically asking for the consequences to be taken out on him, and him alone. Another example is in season three. There was ample opportunities while Stefan was off being a ripper with Klaus for Damon to take advantage of his absence, make a move and completely forget his brother... instead, he took the high road with Elena and fought to get his brother back. A good example is the episode where Damon and Elena head to Chicago to intercept Stefan; Damon distracts Klaus, knowing he's putting himself in danger, so that Elena can try to get through to Stefan. That was certainly not in Delena's best interest, but still Damon pulled through. I mean, anyone who has watched the entire series can make a list of things that prove he's better than what everyone judges him as. His ability to be selfless only gets more apparent as the show goes on (i.e. when we learn about Damon and Stefan's childhood). The audience gets to see this in him, which is why his "bad" traits are often seen as redeemable by fans, while characters in the show who dislike him only see one side of the story.
