Hottest. Kiss. Ever. I'm pretty sure Elena gets on EVERYONE'S nerves when watching these episodes! Personally, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the creators of the show always said it was about the love triangle so they tried to draw it out as long as possible to increase drama, but Elena's characterization got damaged in the process. Blaming them makes it easier to give Elena a break! Plus, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think she is afraid of the future. She wants to go back to the time when Stefan was the one able to wake her up and make her feel after losing her parents and everything with the brothers was more black and white - as in Stefan was good and Damon was bad. These days, she should know better, but she doesn't act like she does. Everyone - including her - still acts like having feelings for Damon is some crazy, shameful thing so she just sticks with denial and makes it harder for herself to see them both for who they are now, both good and bad.

Your reaction was awesome. Absolutely loved it. The first time I saw this episode I was cheesed off with Elena because I got the impression kissing Damon was like an itch that needed scratching and she needed to kiss him to get him out of her system. On a side note it is 6 months to the day since Stefan left with Klaus during this episode. The motel scene was hot. I would have ogled Damon. It was the first time she was able to ogle him without judgement and without anyone knowing (until Damon caught her).

Yes! I also wonder how this Elena differs from the Elena in the book series. All I know is that she is blonde in the books. But I'm curious to know how much about her has been changed.
