Game progress post: Banana Ranch & Baradise Escape (Patreon)
Content
Hey there, it's been a while since I posted here! Sorry about that, been really pre-occupied with the game development work and real life lately x"D
Anyway, here's some of the things I've been working this past month (it's a lot!)
Banana Ranch
According to this poll result, it's been decided that next route to be released is... Finn!
I've been working on the storyline for Finn these days. I've managed to fully outline the story for his route, and managed to write all the before lovers scenes + some after lovers scenes. I think the current wordcount for his route is ~10-12k words so far. Still a lot of scenes to write, but it's progressing!
I'm using the trustworthy Google Docs for writing the events...
Compared to the writing, CGs production is slower, just because only one of Finn's CGs have been finished before (the flower festival scene). Meanwhile, Noir had like 4-5 CGs already completed xD
Anyway, art production has always been slower than the other aspect of game development, so while waiting for the art, I'll busy myself with the writing for Finn's route and maybe the other routes, and I might start tinkering with new game ideas that can go fully in production after Banana Ranch ^w^
Baradise Escape
The other news that I want to announce is... Baradise Escape is now in full production again! I don't know if any of you remember it, but after Seiyuu Danshi, I was supposed to work on this game first before Banana Ranch. However, the artist was busy with real life problems, and the game ended up being pushed back. I'm glad to announce that the artist working on Baradise Escape is now back to the game and can work again, so I've been starting to commission some work from him. One including this obligatory CPR scene :p
I've also been having fun with designing the gameplay, and progress has been great!
The game is planned to be kind of survival in nature, where you're supposed to survive in this uninhabited island (Baradise Island, I'm an uncreative person when it comes to naming... :p) and meet some handsome dudes to date, including but not limited to: the native tribe warrior, mysterious elves, beastkin, and more!
This game's romance is planned to be more casual than both Seiyuu Danshi and Banana Ranch, in that the romance is more poly style where you can romance all the love interests in route. Love interests might also get some fun scenes with each other too, so that's something different to look forward to!
Now the gameplay framework for the game is "complete". Here are some of them explained.
1. Hunger / thirst / stamina meter
They will be continuously decreased with time. You can fill them up by eating, drinking, and sleeping. When partying up with your guy(s), you'll be responsible for taking care of their meters as well. At the same time, you will gain relationship point by "surviving together". You gain 1 relationship point by surviving 1 in-game hour with your partner.
2. Simple farming system.
There's an actual farming system here! It's not gonna rival Stardew's, but hey it works :p
I've been playing around with making sprite animation for chopping wood, tilling the land, etc, but I'm kinda bad at this so I might try to find someone to commission :x
3. Moving basecamp
The plan is to make the player's basecamp changeable with time. For example, first basecamp is the cave that player found after arriving at this island. Later on (after meeting the native tribe warriors), they might move their basecamp to a small house inside the tribe etc. This changing basecamp will make difference in the survival gameplay and also allows player to meet more interactible characters :D
Anyway, now I plan to finish writing Finn's route first while waiting for Baradise Escape art to be finished. And after that, I plan to make a rough first demo for Baradise Escape.
(Second CG art, still in its infancy...)
Seiyuu Danshi After Stories
As usual, I'm also working on the monthly Seiyuu Danshi After Stories episode. This episode will focus on some imaginary bondage play with ninja Toru-chi. Please look forward to it! ^w^
Anyway, that's been the progress this past month! I hope you've enjoyed reading this post so far.
2021 is ending soon, which means I'm going in my 7th year of commercial indie game production real soon (Seiyuu Danshi was kickstarted in Feb 2016!). Time sure flies, and I hope I can make the best out of it!
That's the end of this post, I'll see you guys soon after I'm done with this month's Seiyuu Danshi After Stories ^^
