Hiya guys, back with yet another Weekly Update! Went outside the whole day today (getting an immunization shot again at the hospital), and that's why this update is a bit (not a bit, actually) late ^^;

Anyway, here goes for this week's update!

This week's update is dedicated mostly to explain the changes that I've made to the foreplay mode, and without further ado... Here goes! C:

1) Reduced the number of "cursors" that can be chosen.

If you still remember it, there were like... 8 "cursors" that can be chosen (rub, poke, lick, kiss, bite, etc). Anyway, upon further thinking and procastinating... I've decided to scrap the meaningless cursors and decided to stick with 3 main cursors:

  • Hand
  • Mouth
  • Penis 

This makes it less complicated for player, because you just need to choose between the three. However, my main reason for changing it is to allow for more varied dialogues. Because there are less "cursors" to take care of, it means I can allow more variation to guy's responses. Each cursor - body part combination can now get its own unique variation depending on the guy's personality. 

It wasn't this way before (previously, I just made several generic responses for each guy depending on whether he's feeling good / turned off by the touch), and while I tested it, it felt really stiff and fake. I'm not saying it feels real now (because you're still only interacting with a 2D guy :p), but at least it's... more convincing... hopefully  :D  :D

Anyway, as said above, I'm planning for 3 variations of each response, so for example:

For hand - asshole action (you use "hand" cursor and touch the asshole part), there are 3 reactions for each guy (using Toru-chi's as example below:)

  • Uh, your finger feels good...
  • A-Ahh... M-Move your fingers faster...
  • E-Eh? H-How many fingers in already? I-I don't know...

So yeah, even though you keep poking Toru-chi's asshole, you aren't given the exact same respond each time. If I have the time, I might bump the 3 variations to 4!


2) Idle chatters, dialogues if you doze off, random expression changes 

I've decided to scrap the "turn-based" style and return to "real-time" style. However, the difference is that the timers are invisible (instead of the ticking bomb style before), and there are no particular penalties for being "slow". 

What I've implemented so far are 3 different random timers that take care of different things:

- One timer is set to trigger idle chatters by the guy.

- Another timer is set to trigger random expression changes (like, he will randomly look away sometimes and return back to his original idle expression)

- Yet another timer to detect whether you doze off or not -> Doze off = not doing anything to the guy (not touching, not saying anything to him, etc) and if you doze off long enough... well, the guy will something to you (no particular penalty, he just sulks a little (?) lol)

3) A more minimalist interface

Before, it felt like it was really a "game" with lots of UI parts etc. Even though this is technically a game, I don't really want it to feel that way, and so I've decided to make it a more minimalistic experience, with only the selectable "cursor" in the right part.

The old one looks better for screenshots because it's more vibrant and colorful, but if you want to focus on the character more, I think the new one is better. 


4) Lip flap (synced with voice-acting)

While I'm at it, to add the immersion I've also added simple lip flap that are synced with the voice acting (mouth movement will stop when the voice has ended). I want to add fancy gif here, but I'm too lazy (and sleepy) to record screen and turn it into a gift, so... yeah x"D


5) Bottom / top are no longer determined by actions during foreplay mode, but determined by a choice at the end of foreplay mode (+ other aspects)

I've been troubled over this a lot. For previous ver of foreplay mode, I made it so that actions you make during foreplay will decide whether you are a top / bottom (as in, if you keep rimming / fingering, then you are probably a top). However, there are really few actions that are exclusive to a role, probably only rimming and fingering qualify (for bottoms), but that's it. Kissing, blowjob, handjob, groping, touching your bae here and there, they are equally enjoyed for both roles. And because of that, I've decided that whether you are a top / bottom for that particular sex session, it is decided by decisions you make at the end of foreplay mode + decisions you have made during the gameplay will also have an impact (like during a certain spending time event, you are randomly asked if you like to top / bottom) ===> still needs some more thinking, not entirely fixed!


Anyway those are the changes so far, and while I think it's better than before... There are several undecided things that I'm still contemplating with (and it's really great if you can give me your inputs!)

Which do you prefer, between:

Click to continue textbox or textbox that fades by itself?

Click to continue textbox is like the usual dialogue in-game, you click anywhere on the screen to continue.

Instead, textbox that fades by itself will - just like what it's called - hide itself with a fancy fade-out when a certain time has passed. Players don't have to click on anything. 

Now, which of the two do you like better? And why?


Auto scroll to face or not?

When you tease the guy's lower part (for ex: his legs), you can't see the guy's expression changes when he reacts to your touch (because logically, you are looking at this legs now.). I can make it that your view is automatically switched to his face, but it kinda seems choppy somehow (like, the change of view is unnatural). So yeah, still undecided for those reasons. The flow is better (not choppy) when the view isn't auto-scrolled, but then you can't see his cute face reacting to your foot rub (and others) :/

So, which would you prefer between the two? And again, why?


Aside from those issues, there are also other that need to be "fixed", mainly that the transition between the main screen (the guy's image on bed) and the CG scene + chibi scenes are still choppy and not smooth enough => I'm... gonna have to procastinate again to solve this lol. 


On an end note, all mousepad designs are finally all finished <3
