In 1921, William Cost met Stanley Colesworth while working at a small market in Chicago. The two often dreamed of starting their own store, where "people could buy huge amounts of stuff, for less money than at other places." Two years later, "Cost & Colesworth's Tires, Clothes, Food and Boat Insurance" opened its doors. The store quickly gained popularity due to its unique approach to bulk buying and for its innovative "Executive Membership" card which offers 2% cash back on select purchases.

The rest, as they say, is history..
