Great Q from Zamalek

@InvestAnswers  Hi James I believe AI will be transformative too  but 1600x in 2 years seems excessive what you are basing this on, has there even been a precedence for such a rise in 2 years in other markets that you can draw upon?

Reason for a 1600x increase in capability was first spoken of by Chamath in late 2023.  He did not give specific reasons but if you look at the pace of advancement over the last 13 mths and and amt of compute it is easy to back into.

Key Reason I see for 1600 fold increase:

  • Compound impact of learning in AI technologies.
  • Advancements in neural networks.
  • Increased processing and compute power.
  • Rapid developments in AI technologies.
  • Exponential growth in data available for AI learning.
  • Accessibility to powerful computing resources.
  • Breakthroughs in AI algorithms.
  • Substantial multi-deca and centi-billion dollar investments in AI.
  • Democratization of AI tools and technologies.
  • Growing adoption and integration of AI in various sectors.

Q2: Have I seen anything else like it?

Yes - 20 plus years ago Cisco developed the Gigabit switch.  A good friend is a top network engineer there.  This was a huge breakthru.  Now Cisco Catalyst 9600 Series switches are among the fastest Cisco switches available in the market. They are twice as fast and offer twice the capacity of traditional switches, with a switching capacity of up to 25.6 Tbps.

Thank you James. To second James poi t here: We all saw what Optimus is able to do. Then we saw Aloha robot, and now over the weekend, we saw Figure 01 robot making a cup of coffee trained by just watching human make one. Brett Adcock, Founder and CEO of Figure said they could not imagine reaching such a break through a short space of time (just over a yr).

Whiteness

Confused by the comparison to switches, they, like all tech, 10x in speed every 10 or so years. AI seems to be in a much different league than that! Also, Cisco switches… they make expensive products, not GOOD (or fast, or secure) products 😏
