In the video you state that with the $7500 federal tax credit the TESLA Model Y is reduced down to $35,990. As a non-US resident, I have two questions. 1) Wouldn't all EV's qualify for the grant, and therefore the TOYOTA would also come down in price? 2) Presumably the rebate amount is based on other factors such as annual income and/or total tax owed + the cost of the EV. Or is it a simple case of purchase an EV and get a $7500 rebate?

Federal tax credits has manufacturing component clause and price cap. Unless key components made in USA credit does not apply. Price cap was reason dropped price on certain Tesla models so that they would qualify. Answer to second question not so clear. It is a tax credit yet certain manufacturers discount price equal to credit? Not sure how that works unless second party financiers (ie GMAC etc) are involved in securing the credit.

Did you see the Wall Street Journal this morning about how BYD is threatening Tesla dominance? I'd appreciate your thoughts.

It WILL outsell TSLA with cheap cars very soon and will continue to do so until TSLA comes out with a "Model 2." That said, that matters not because BYD's profit margins are razor thin. By analogy, many more Android-based phones are sold than AAPL, yet AAPL make far more money than any producer of Android-based phones. Why? Profit margins! And once TSLA comes out with the "Model 2," say goodbye to BYD outselling TSLA in the cheap car category, and even if BYD were to continue to outsell TSLA in that category, it will never beat TSLA on profit margins - ever.
