Scammers are becoming more sophisticated and desperate. Here are some things to watch out for:

  • I will never have a private conversation with you. All of my conversations with the community are public and open. If someone asks you to have a private conversation, it is a scam.
  • I will never reach out to you. If someone contacts you claiming to be me, it is a scam.
  • I will never ask for anything. If someone asks you for money or something else of value, it is a scam.
  • I am not on Telegram. Please don't trust anyone on Telegram.
  • I am not on LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok IG etc. Please don't trust anyone anywhere.
  • My social media accounts are Instagram, Twitter and Facebook but I will never DM you through these outlets. All are managed by others with the exception of Twitter.

CONTACT OUR MODERATORS if you notice anyone in the community acting suspiciously or using likeness of my image or name. Either write a message through Patreon or tag our moderator team through one of our community forums.

Here are some additional tips for preventing scams:

  • Be skeptical of anyone who offers you something that sounds too good to be true or tries to earn your trust by showing you can make small amounts of money, etc. - they will turn on you.
  • Never give out your personal information, such as your Social Security number, bank account number, or even send your crypto to someone you don't know.
  • Be careful when clicking on links in emails or messages from people you don't know. These links may lead to malicious websites that can steal your personal information.

It makes me sad to know I'll never have the opportunity to have a private conversation with James 😭

I’m embarrassed to admit I fell for a scam in the spring of 2021. I was contacted by someone impersonating Dan Morehead and sent a little over $50k in BTC (~.65 BTC) & ETH into what the person claimed was a mining bot fund. Sucked and kept me out of crypto until late last year.

I would add, don’t click on links from people you do know. Email account get hacked, contact list, get hacked. call the sender to confirm.

Don’t click on links in emails or texts at all even if you know or recognize the sender. Many times they’re scammers impersonating well known entities. If I get an email stating problems or whatever with my account I always close the message and go directly to the company that supposedly sent it to see if that situation actually existed. I make no exceptions. Never trust. Verify.

Just a heads up to the community if you have a coinbase card. Be aware that they are being stolen and pretty easily activated with no alerts or information. My card was stolen and used for 3 weeks straight without my knowledge. They then locked me out of my account without authorization.
