I have expressed my concerns about this issue for the past two years, and those concerns have only increased in the last six months. The progress in the field of AI is advancing exponentially. My intention is not to incite fear, but rather to raise awareness about what is on the horizon so that we can all be better prepared for the future.

AI systems like ChatGPT could impact 300 million full-time jobs worldwide, with administrative and legal roles some of the most at risk per Goldman Sachs.

Goldman Sachs economists predict that 18% of work globally could be computerized, with the effects felt more deeply in advanced economies than emerging markets.  7% of US workforce.

My short list of occupations that could be at risk

  • Writers
  • Painters
  • Customer service representatives
  • Data entry clerks
  • Truck drivers and chauffeurs
  • Financial analysts and traders
  • Factory workers
  • Legal professionals
  • Accountants
  • IRS Agents
  • Healthcare workers

Yet another structural change to the labor market coming over the next decade.

Generative AI Could Impact 300M Jobs, Goldman Sachs Predicts

Recent advances in artificial intelligence may have some people worrying about job security -- and with good reason. A report by Goldman Sachs predicts that as many as 300 million jobs could be affected by generative AI. "If generative AI delivers on its promised capabilities, the labor market could face significant disruption," the investment banker said in a research note ( PDF) Sunday.

We have employed very advanced CNC cutting technology in our stone fabrication business and it’s interesting to see where the “ intelligent “ software fails . The area of Human subjectives / preferences will be difficult to replicate . Essentially decisions or hierarchies rooted in the emotional cannot be easily replicated . We welcome the relief from mundane and repetitive tasks however 👍

James, when you say over the next decade, you mean the next 10 months, right?

Excellent work Ser James. It feels weird to me, on the one hand it's wild that this is a thing and so cool...and on the other hand it's going to hurt some wonderful people's ability to provide for their families.

I don't exactly trust "Goldman Sachs" in areas of wisdom, truth, and honesty, but there is zero doubt of the overall concern over AI. I think 300M is a bit light and should be expressed as more of a concern of all jobs, as in replacing humans "completely" as anything other than cattle or pets in the long term. The more short term concern is who is controlling the AI, and with Microsoft "buying" OpenAI effectively, and thus yet again using its monopoly power to control the future, I am even more concerned. I was at least happy to see Elon counter with something that can at least bring some competition to what is certain to dominate every aspect of our future. The conversation is only useless if we don't get to that point because of other human insanity (you know what I mean).

James your are helping just by running I. A. Finding and maintaining Financial Freedom in a world of A. I. will be very confusing to many. This is the reason I researched crypto 2 years ago and the reason I joined this group. It has inspired to setup a PFO Private Family Office structure for my immediate and extended family. You are creating the tools and the knowledge set. I salute you

Unemployment will never be this low again barring a nuclear catastrophe

Writers (which includes the vast majority of “journalists”, who practice 0 journalism), software developers that aren’t architects/engineers, drivers, factory workers, and practically anyone in accounting, tax prep, and similar are already done for!

Ditto when FSD comes do fruition, lots of driver based jobs will be lost. Unsure how the taxation (like tax all AI) or Pension Ponzi will result in

Oh also already won several IA art comps, so now looking at best way to monitize. It is interesting to me that if you have niche knowledge, this helps. Also lots of new jobs opening, big area being Ai copyright varification on Blockchain. Real Vision has a great new YT series on this stuff.

Healthcare workers? That will take a while James. These machines can’t show empathy, give care: personal care, watch patients, assist them with toileting, administer medication, take them out for recreational activity, prepare their meals feed them etc. we are a long way from that. No AI or machine can interact with a human who needs care than a fellow trained human. Think healthcare still is the place to be especially nursing roles.

James. Have you had any luck finding a promising company to invest in in the AI arena? Other than Tesla, Microsoft, or google. The next big thing? I really don’t want to miss out on this transformative tech.
