"Unsafe" crypto exchanges work on Merkle tree proof of reserves to show that 100% of assets are redeemable. In contrast, the "safe" traditional banks may only have 1-5% due to fractional reserve banking. They are over-leveraged in trades that don't assume systemic failure (Covid, war, FED's interest rates hikes). But that's "fine". Big brother is here to "protect" us from the freedom to choose.
