#TechnicalAnalysis #MovingAverages $TSLA $GOOG $BTC $ETH $GOLD $SHOP $NEE IA TA Tuesdays(InvestAnswers Technical Analysis) - today we cover simple moving averages or moving averages to identify buy and sell signals and how I configure my charts including the rules of engagement. We also cover stop losses and so much more across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Gold, Ten Year Treasury, Twitter, Shopify, Nextera Energy, Nio, Tesla, Google, and more. The opinions expressed in the video are for general informational purposes only and are not intended to provide specific advice or recommendations for any individual or on any specific security or investment product. It is only intended to provide education about the financial industry. 0:00 IA TA Tuesdays SMA Simple Moving Avg 0:50 Why TA MA (Moving Averages) For time series interpretation, a moving average can smooth out the noise of random outliers and emphasize long-term trends Used to identify trend direction and to determine support & resistance levels 1:20 Do Moving Averages Work? The market has no memory and the past is not an indicator of the future Standalone it is not perfect. MA’s lag the market 2:00 Long Term - The 200 DMA Trending below the 200 DMA = bearish sign - think short the market If it is above - think bullish 2:40 Medium Term 50-100 DMA The 50-day average is a key level of support or resistance it's the first line of support in an uptrend. the first line of resistance in a downtrend 3:15 Short Term 20 DMA The 20-day may be of analytical benefit to a shorter-term trader since it follows the price more closely and therefore produces less "lag" than the longer-term moving average 4:00 When 50MA Crosses Above 200MA = Buy Signal A very bullish sign But check other market conditions and other indicators Never rely solely on MA’s 5:00 Golden Signal 50 Day MA crossing a line of support is a very bullish sign Use daily and 4-hour charts to check 5:20 Trailing Stop Losses 50 DMA can also be used for trailing stops. 6:00 Don’t use Trailing Stop Losses for CRYPTO - You will get #Wicked out 7:00 Chart analysis for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Gold, Ten Year Treasury, Twitter, Shopify, Nextera Energy, Nio, Tesla, Google, and more. 20:16 Conclusion Moving Averages In an up market, when great names hit 200 DMA’s - worth investigating. 50 DMA act as good lines of support, Stop losses can be placed under 50 DMA’s for safety, MA’s can give good buy and sell signals BUT tend to lag, Practice practice practice and get to know the Snake! 21:17 Want more? Love the pace and how many charts you went through. Really helps to see it again, again and again. Starts to sink when you see it multiple times. Really love this new series.

Great stuff...I’ve learnt so much over the last few weeks. Thanks 👌

InvestAnswers

Glad it helps. Keep the feedback coming. I'm trying to make it a little slower and more detailed and also showcase exactly how to configure the charts and the indicators. I think the best learning is to go through many examples and identify the good and the bad of technical analysis. But thank you so much for the feedback and keep it coming and thank you for all you do..

I’m struggling to find the platforms that allow me to to do more technical trades...I use Halifax (UK bank) for all trades, but it’s limited....!

Anonymous

Looking at the comments before I watch the video. Guess I like spoiler alerts! Thanks in advance James!!

*Updated! Hmmmm I can’t seem to figure out how to set those indicators on trading view, but I think I got it on think or swim and it clearly shows the 50 day ma crossing below the 200MA last week never to be heard from again on a stock that is plummeting yet for some reason I am still holding 🤣. So practice paper trading you say ? 😄

Stunning aesthetics! Sophisticated design, patterns, and colors - a visual treat and a total pleasure to watch! Now I'll view the video again (and again) so I can begin to absorb the superb training. Thank you for your expertise and willingness to share your knowledge with us.

Perfect. Thanks James. Your spoon feeding pace is just right.

Prefect presentation for this newbie at TA. I really like current examples with such detail. Nice pace. I have a very busy daytime job, but always looking forward to learning from you when I have time. You are such a gifted teacher. I can’t thank you enough. This is so interesting.

Awesome video, thanks James! I'm curious how you create the combination MA's on trading view?

https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/spread/BITSTAMP%3ABTCUSD%2FFRED%3AM1/ Very interesting chart brought up by a TA Youtuber. Shows the price of BTC is still very low when you back out the inflation of USD. Opinions?

InvestAnswers

Well you need a tool then like https://www.tradingview.com/chart/NShpGezr/ and confugure your charts and ID what you want and at what price and perhaps then enter limit orders on Halifax?

InvestAnswers

I have a pro account so unlimited indicators (I think) and I add what I like. and I can mute them when I need a clean chart.

This is the video I’ve been waiting for.

James it’s gratifying as I get into TA as one of the (hithero unexplored) tools in my arsenal you showed several stocks that I had been taking a close look at. I’m super interested in that delta ‘buy’ ‘sell’ indicator as yet another tool in the arsenal (albeit not faultless as you mentioned). Is this something you custom configured or a public TradingView indicator? Generally speaking, for the noobs among the congregation I think it would be awesome if we could have a common lexicon where you post links to “this thing that I’m showing here” as something we can follow along with from home and try it on for size as we consider adding the thing to our decision making process. We obviously understand that this is not financial advice to buy or sell but exploring all possible parameters and adding them into our decision matrix is interesting to explore. TLDR: love the measured pace at which are you are introducing a concept each week and giving us time to explore, validate, and experiment with our rationale. Top notch.

Great ideas - esp re what I call rules of the road and lexicon so we can all keep our trains on the track. I am pumping out so much content so fast catering to so many audiences sometimes it is hard for me to tell which way is up so thanks for this. Cheers Andrew

Great lesson. Clean and simple.

How many indicators do you ideally want in confluence to enter a trade?

Anonymous

How can I setup that CA_-_MA_cross indicator?

InvestAnswers

I am going to do a video on that just for Patreon Capitalists. I had a # of requests. Make sure you have the Trading View Pro Sub Cheers

Do you have anything to say about Tel? TE connectivity. Supposedly Tesla buy their sensors from them.

(Almost) completely irrelevant post from me, but I have to tell someone who will understand my excitement and that someone is you guys, the IA community. I've just enabled crypto payments on my business website! It made me smile :)

Congratulations! Such seemingly simple addition to any business these days, but I'm certain you can rest assured that it will pay off in spades down the road. Great move.

many have asked for that. Merch seems so capitalistic. I am trying to find a way to create Merch that benefits a good cause or gives employment to those in need. Ideas welcome.

I have seen many of your videos, it’s a new world opening. I really wish I understood everything you are talking about since I would love to start trading. Until then I will keep my BTC and ETH. Is it safe to leave them at the trading platforms?

Anonymous

I've watched the video twice and each time something new comes into focus. Thank you James for the lovely pace you set for us noobys and thanks again for caring so much about your patreon community. Your enthusiasm and excitement are contagious!

You made a comment on this video - "become your own bank with bitcoin"... please make a video or 3 on how to do this now, and in the future... especially if one does not hold a bunch of bitcoin... what is that minimum? What if one held one bitcoin? two bitcoin? When/how does that become feasible? Thank you so much for all you do for this community.

Hi Sanne, If you don't do anything with them, like staking, lending or stuff like that, I would suggest to put your BTCs and ETHs out of those trading platforms and into a crypto wallet. I myself use Trezor, so here a link to their latest blog post. https://blog.trezor.io/dont-lose-your-bitcoin-to-bad-luck-b9b390fd2453 There are other wallets out there. As a tip: if you buy a wallet, always only buy directly from the makers and not, for instance, on Amazon. There seem te be fake wallets out there with preinstalled crap that leads to loss of your cryptos. You can always start out with Exodus. That one is for free. It's a 'hot' wallet. The only downside of those is that they are still linked to the Internet. But, an easy way to start. Hope this helps.
