How soon do you think it will take for the remaining supply to be mostly bought up? What happens then?

InvestAnswers

My thesis has always been scarcity and it is why I am so excited. Once all coins get bought up then people will be fighting over Satoshis (1/100,000,000 of a coin).

Big movement down for MSTR share prices due to the drop in Bitcoin. Do you re-evaluate your play or are you just holding until December 2021 as you mentioned?

Anonymous

Is there a point where crumbs get too expensive? Does the scarcity factor have limit?

Huh... Add the *650K* bitcoin Grayscale HODL... And... Wow... Grayscale control 3.7% of *all* not-lost Bitcoin... Including the bitcoin that has not been mined yet...

Wouldn’t MSTR bitcoin be counted under Hodl and not the float ?

What u think about xpr?

InvestAnswers

Hey Marty, I am holding. If I did not have tax ramifications I would have sold out yesterday. However, then I would have incurred 500K in tax liability. I need to hold for more than 12 months to incur long term capital gains. #Savings :D plus I am in no hurry. I know MSTR is going back up to where it was in due course.

InvestAnswers

True yes, but this data is pre MSTR buy - the HODLers have been holding since before Sept/Oct/Nov 202o hence I included them in the float bucket.

~Any reputable exchange... So long as it goes to a self-custody wallet that gives YOU and only you the private key! Don't leave crypto sitting on exchanges for no reason, and keep it in your own wallet with your own private key!

How sad so many are lost.

I hold XRP I will sell all after 12 months.

Would quantum computers of the future free up a significant share of the lost bitcoin?

You hold an option to buy not the actual stock... So when you sell ( event after 12 months) tax is due at that point? Curious?

An interesting saying is: “don’t let the tax tail wag the investment dog”. I wish I had reminded myself of this more often than I have done so in the past.

If he sells the Call he would have to pay tax on the profit which he would then lose 50% to the government if he does it with in 12 months of the investment.

Anonymous

A call isn't a stock investment. It's a bet until exercised..I am curious how the 12 month stock tax rule comes into play?

Anonymous

Bitcoin isn't a stock and the profits are still heavily taxed unless you hold it over 12 months also

I look at a chart like this and I ask myself how can a fixed supply asset like BTC ever be the basis (layer 1) for a currency (i.e. like gold)? As the years go by and economies grow and populations increase BTC would be EXTREMELY deflationary against all prices of goods and services. I know BTC as a reserve currency isn't the endgame for every proponent, but the fact that it wouldn't make for a very good reserve currency might be a strike against the central bank/government adoption narrative, no? Regardless, I'm HODLing my BTC. Just trying to think through the VERY long-term prospects for BTC. Oh well, I guess since most of us want to make money any way we can here and now, who ultimately cares whether BTC or some other asset(s) emerge as our long-term monetary solution?

Another great step forward for Hut8..just added more machines and increased Hash rate.

I can see a world where BTC isn't a layer 1 basis for a currency and still be valuable. In fact that is the situation today. I can see the central banks creating their own CBDCs and those are the inflationary currencies that are exchanged. In that world Bitcoin would be the deflationary asset (like gold) that ppl would want to park their money into to counter act CBDCs losing value weather through inflation or negative interest rates.

hence the movement #NotYourKeysNotYourCoins - so many had no clue how to self custody.... it requires discipline and even with extreme discipline things can still go sideways.

We’d better get to it then

Wow, this is fantastic news. It seems like the team at HUT8 has a real vision and a concrete plan they're really sticking to. Great find, George!

Hi Jim. Being a MSTR share holder and living in the UK we have stocks and shares ISA’s (up to £20K per year deposits) that are tax free which all my stocks are in so any profit I keep. Is it in this case worth keeping MSTR?
