Mini-post: The Anklebiters reference pics (Patreon)

I’m a a good way through the next Anklebiters chapter, and a few thoughts came together and had me think to bring up the inspirations of the girls involved. Now, they’re not exact by any means, but I’ve been gathering a lot of my folder in Shortbooru when no one else would commit to the idea of a shortstack booru, so I figured I’d link to the closest image that reminds me of their base looks

The face is out of whack for her, and missing the freckles, but that crushed down and wide build is really where it’s at. She’s not visibly very muscular, but she’s so heavy that you move before she does.

It’s the expression, mostly. She’s definitely about that reptilian, but her sort of being in over her head but okay with that. There’s an underlying story about her being sort of in this for the adventure that I haven’t got into yet, and that really kind of catches what I see in the pic. It’s her being unsure if she can do this, but willing to try.

Someone drew it on the shortstack thread, and it’s just become my default gnome image in my head. Everything’s just a little too big and too  soft about them, but they’re so hyped to be there.

More curves, no patch, and less crazy hair, but that edge and indifference to her. Goblins have a (earned) reputation as crooks in Dome Peace, and she plays that to its max.

Straight up genderswap Bilbo. It’s not really her look or personality, but original Bilbo; the flailing spaz with just the one adventurous bone in his body? That’s her core. Always a little on edge and trying to be polite. Named her for a spice just to make her extra earthy and harmless.

Kind of the best reference I could find, and one of the few who I didn’t have a picture in mind when I decided on her. I really pictured Melty as a kind of humanized version of the pokemon Goomy, just sort of a lump that… became a curvy lady as she needed to, but without going full Monster Musume. More varied colors enough that you could tell it’s not a person, but its’ more than a human-shaped puddle. Eye’s also more of a really expressive marble type than the full anime pupil.
