So, a handy dandy guide to the in-universe units of measurement... with absolutely no clarification on exactly how long they are.  :-D

I will only mention relative scale in comparison to others.

Length:

  • Taum - what the diameter of the demesne is measured in
  • Pace - used for construction measurements. Lori has markings on her staff that measure out one pace.
  • Half-pace - a unit of measure that exists and is half a pace, and is apparently not used all that much, by Lori's tone
  • Stri - a unit of measure Lori considers atrocious that exists but no one really uses. Something to pad out the scale between a pace and a yustri. Smaller than a pace, bigger than yustri. Lori demands that Rian convert stri measurements into paces.
  • Yustri - a unit of measure smaller than a pace or a stri, but is more commonly used than the latter.

Mass/Weight:

  • sengrain - how they're measuring the harvest. A sengrain of water is one chiyudrop

Volume:

  • cubedrop - a small amount, used to measure amount of blood Lori extracted with a syringe.
  • chiyudrop - a much larger amount. A chiyudrop contains one sengrain of water

Time:

  • Day - one cycle of the sun in the sky and dark of night
  • Week - more than seven days
  • Blue month - one cycle of the blue moon. Shortest of the months. 13 blue months in a year
  • Pale month - one cycle of the pale moon. Longer than a blue month, shorter than a storm month. 11 pale months in a year
  • Storm month - one cycle of the storm moon. Longer than a pale month, shorter than a red month. 10 storm months in a year
  • Red month - one cycle of the red moon. Longest of the months. 7 red months in a year.
