Captain Jack Harkness is back with a bit more of an edge this time around. It was great following Gwen as she began an investigation that led her into a whole new world! I am excited to see how this series develops and the kinds of stories they tell.

Being the first episode of the series you can watch this episode for free! If you'd like to continue watching the series you can join the Super Casual tier. The edited reactions begin their YouTube release on March 14th, but are launching today for the Casually Early Tier.

The video is hosted here on Patreon, but I also offer a YouTube link for those who prefer it or have issues with the patreon player.

*You need your own copy of the episode to watch along, I bought the series on Vudu.

So Torchwood is definitely R rated. There's a lot of controversy over the Owen Cologne. I think this show was just trying it's hardest to be the polar opposite to Doctor Who at first, and made some stupid decisions in an effort to push the boundaries. Thankfully that settles down over time, and you will get to some of the best TV ever produced by season 3 (which you've already been told by the sounds of it). A couple of tidbits about the episode itself, good catch on Doctor Who's Boom Town being centered around the rift in Cardiff. There's another episode in Series 1, the Unquiet Dead which is when the rift first appeared in Cardiff. Interestingly the actress who played Gwyneth in that episode is actually the same actress who plays Gwen. Also, the theme tune to Torchwood, you've heard before. In the two part finale of Doctor Who series 2, they actually used that music during the many Torchwood scenes. You wouldn't know on first watch, but if you go back to watch it now, you'll hear it. Oh, and the reason only S1-3 were bundled together and S4 was not included, is that series 4 was co-produced by Starz network in the US, so the rights to that series are a bit different than the first 3.

Torchwood tried so hard to be mature that it often ended up feeling juvenile.

2024-02-19 02:16:46 You will most definitely get more snip-its of info about Jack from the Dr. Who series, but only tiny morsels. It is most ideal to watch Torchwood and Dr. Who together to keep the timeline straight because they absolutely will reference each other on occasion for fun - but you REALLY have to pay attention! For example, when Jack was telling Gwen about the technical explanation of why the rift causes people not to notice them on that particular spot...it was a fancy way of saying "the TARDIS landed here and some of it's perception filter stuck to the rift on this spot." But I love how this series is a mix of CSI meets X-Files. Children of Earth was good but my favorite is still Miracle Day!

I'm fully expecting to completely love the show soon enough. Oddly, I enjoyed both of the episodes I've watched so far more after I edited them.
