Going in blind to a movie like this is something else. I never could have predicted any film with a plot like this, but the characters made the film really compelling! Thanks Holly for selecting this film.

I saw this movie on TV as a kid, after loving the ads for it that focused entirely on the robots and said nothing about it being all about old people. So as you can imagine I was quite impatient through the first act, but once they did show up I completely got into it.

The expectation of flying robots would have completely changed my feeling of the first act. I am glad I knew nothing. Glad you enjoyed it once they showed up!

This is just one of those feel good movies that I loved as a kid and it holds up enough today that I will always stop to watch it whenever it's on television or every now and then when I see it's available to stream. The robots were done by Industrial Light and Magic, and while yes, there are some scenes where the special effects look a little janky, for the most part they hold up incredibly well considering the year this was made.
