I am so glad I went unto this film so blind, with no definitive expectation. It made the evolution of this film really engaging, while still being a classic james cameron ride.

Thanks Red Dwarf for this selection.

Just hit me: this is the *MOST* James Cameron movie ever. I mean EVER. Curious that it's somewhat forgotten given it's Titanic + Aliens + Avatar all rolled into a pretty damned nifty package. If only Arnie could have played the submarine.

Oh man, it really does include all the James Cameronisms. I'm sure when it finally gets the 4K re-release it'll come back into te public awareness.

Finally got to watch your reaction. I have not seen it in several years, so it was nice to revisit it. Glad you liked it! There is a documentary that I hear is amazing, but I have not seen it yet. Apparently Ed Harris almost drowned and will not talk about this movie which is a shame because it is up there with Places In The Heart with my fave Harris movies.

It's not surprising he almost drowned. I've learned a little bit about how they filmed it and it's wild! I'd love for him to talk about it, but maybe he's doing the best he can and honoring the old adage "if you can't say anything nice..." Fascinating film though! James Cameron always delivers a James Cameron movie. Very impressive.
