A really good episode that could have been great as we pick up the story several weeks after the last episode and find the Pegasus in the middle of a crisis

I'm super excited as we approach the end of the season (not to mention very, very nervous!)

Thanks for being here!

This episode's abortion storyline really hits differently for me as an American woman in 2023 as it did for me in 2006. Calling it a delicate topic is an understatement, and I don't want to start political fights in the comments section, so I will leave it at that.

On a *totally* different subject, this episode has one of those moments in sci-fi in which the "knowledge" that these people are speaking whatever language was spoken on the Twelve Colonies starts to disintegrate just a little bit. Roslin tells the delegate from Geminon that she has her "pound of flesh" -- and that is a very specific phrase from a very specific plot point in Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice." Its meaning has, of course, transcended the play and entered the vernacular for *us*, but there's no way someone from The Twelve Colonies would have a Shakespeare reference in their back pocket 😉. This is something the audience lets slide, as we get that it's communicating a metaphor that we understand, but where do we draw that line for suspension of disbelief when it comes to the spoken word and the construction of different planets and civilizations? It's all a little fuzzy. We allow for straighforward language and just say, "Yeah that's just what they're saying in whatever language they're speaking," but when we get to literary references and the like, everyone seems to have their own point at which they roll their eyes.

There’s also an episode where I think Lee calls two pilots goofing off “Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.” So which colony do you suppose Lewis Carroll was from?

Obviously all the culture that is unique to earth was fully entrenched in Kobol's past and the earthlings we (if we ever do) meet are nothing but vacant shells, scarcely more than cylons. Solved it. 😅

Hello Oisin, definitely understand not having the time to watch the whole episodes, although it might be worth it for the BIG ones. The short YouTube versions are available here as well in posts labelled "early access". They are grouped together in the early access collection as well. Some episodes keep getting out of order for some reason, but I hope you find them accessible. https://www.patreon.com/collection/17719 So say we all!
