I do have to question that final text box that rams in the movie’s message. According to the film’s own portrayal, people like Abraham Lincoln would have still been born, just without the genetic conditions that made their lives worse. And I’m pretty sure Emily Dickinson and Vincent Van Gogh would have preferred to not have their mental illnesses, even if it kept them from being great artists.

The 4 degrees of The Apple. Connecting any film to the 1980 disco-train-wreck in 4 steps or less. I claimed I could connect this 10 times starting with different actors. As I now sit watching the full length with you, Chris, I begin this stupid, pointless challenge. Eat your heart out, Kevin Bacon.

1. Ethan Hawk (Vincent) was in The Explorers with James Cromwell. Cromwell was in Babe with Miriam Margolyes who is in The 🍎.

Ah...no...they would *not* have been born at all. The fertilized eggs that made them would have been rejected due to the screening and a different "sibling" would have been chosen (given the same name, but literally being a different person). And without their trials to overcome they wouldn't have achieved what they did. The child named Vinny Van Gogh would have been happier, certainly, but then he wouldn't have created the transcendent beauty that came from the pained madman. (Is the argument to my understanding, anyway.)
